Tear Trough Cosmetic Injections in Melbourne

Techniques for reducing eye shadows or under-eye ‘bags.’

Are you wondering what, if anything, can be done to the tear trough area under your eyes? Where for some people, dark shadows or darker skin makes the facial appearance look tired or hallowed?  Well, this is another area where Dermal Fillers can make a big difference for the right candidates. How many times have you looked in the mirror and wished your under-eye circles would go away? If this is a problem that you are facing, then there is hope for you yet! Under-eye dermal fillers can be used to fix dark circles and tear troughs.

As we age, our skin naturally loses elasticity and fat below the eye begins to disappear. This is what causes dark circles under your eyes as well as a deep crease or ‘tear trough’ that stretches from your nose down towards your mouth. The dermal filler can be used in these areas to make them plump and the look of tired dark under eyes.

What are the visible benefits of under-eye filler?

Perhaps the most common issue that patients want to address is dark circles. A person who has never had a problem with their skin may suddenly notice these under-eye bags as they grow older.

The benefits of under-eye fillers include restoring lost volume and reducing skin folds around the eyes while improving wrinkles and dark circles. Fillers also reduce puffiness by smoothing out uneven surfaces which will then help prevent fluid retention beneath the eye area.

Is tear trough filler painful?

It is not uncommon for patients to experience some moderate pain during the injection. It does not last long and usually subsides as soon as the patient relaxes.

What are the advantages of dermal filler injections?

Injections of dermal filler can provide immediate positive results that are visible quickly after treatment, making it a good option for those who need an improvement in their appearance without waiting weeks or months before seeing noticeable changes.

How long do under eye injections last?

Under-eye injections will last for six to twelve months. This may vary depending on the person, but this is a good rule of thumb.

What should I do before and after fillers?

Make sure to avoid any alcohol or caffeine for 24 hours before your procedure. You also may want to apply ice packs or take a short nap so you are relaxed and less prone to bruising.

After injection, some swelling will be normal as the filler takes effect in your skin. This may last for a few hours to two days. You may also experience some bruising which will disappear after about a week or so.

If you are experiencing any new symptoms, such as redness, swelling, pain or fever, please contact your provider immediately.

How long does the process last?

The injections will only take about 15 minutes, but it is recommended that you schedule an appointment with one of our injectors to discuss what you would like to achieve if this is the first time you have had fillers in the under-eye area.
