Celebrity Eyelids – Who has the Best Pair of Eyes?

Do you admit to having a celebrity crush? Who among us hasn’t swooned over the look of a celebrity. Some celebrities look even better as they age.  The celebrities that made our list of “best celebrity eyes”, have been gracing our screens with their talents for many years. But many of these heartthrobs don’t even look their age. And some might even have used eye rejuvenation tricks that we wish we knew more about.

Best Celebrity Eyes – Who’s Made Our List

The following celebrities are in their 40’s and couldn’t look any better. It might be their genetics, or it might be an ability to take holidays or have their chef’s prepare the healthiest foods available. But these famous celebrities have been blessed with gorgeous eyes and fresh looking faces that don’t reveal they have been on the earth for over four decades.

Ben Affleck’s Celebrity Eyelids (http://pin.it/Hz0j3OW)

Ben has had fans swooning over his soft, dreamy eyes since his first major film role in Good Will Hunting. Ben was born in August of 1972, which makes him 44 years of age. He’s well known for his roles in The Town, Argo and the most recent Batman movie, and his directing and acting role in Gone Baby Gone.  Ben has been blessed with good looks and amazing eyes.

While they are slightly downturned, deep-set and gorgeous, Ben Affleck’s eyes get the Thumbs Up from our eyelid review team. He will at some stage likely need an upper blepharoplasty but is still years away from needing rejuvenating eyelid lift surgery for his eyes.

Jennifer Aniston’s Celebrity Eyes (http://pin.it/cs6yvRT)

Jennifer Aniston was born in February 1969 (47 y/o) in California. She’s a top awarded actress who’s adored for her role in the long-running, award-winning American sitcom, Friends, for which she won an Emmy, a Golden Globe Award and a Screen Actors Guild award.

She’s also featured in numerous films, including Horrible Bosses, He’s Not That Into You, We’re The Millers, The Break Up and Marley & Me.

Jennifer has also been a brand ambassador for a skincare product line. She always seems to have nearly flawless skin – and stunningly beautiful eyes.  These traits are likely partially related to her genes, but we suspect she knows her way around the best options in terms of cosmeceutical skincare products and in-clinic treatments including laser, IPL, ultrasound and light-based treatments.

Not only are her eyes beautiful to look at, she has perfectly shaped eyebrows that work brilliantly with her eyes and other facial features (read our blog “Best Eyebrows: What is the Ideal Eyebrow for your face?“). Her eyelashes are usually full and long enough to leave us contemplating that she may use false eyelashes or eyelash extenders, but however she comes by her beautiful peeps, Jennifer Aniston’s eyes still leave her looking like she is in her 30’s more than her late 40’s.

Jeremy Renner’s Celebrity Eyes  (http://pin.it/qEsvqKw)

Jeremy Renner is another celebrity blessed with amazing eyes, which have been piercing the big screen in a number of hits.  Renner was born in January of 1971, which makes him 45 years in age.

He is best known for his roles in The Hurt Locker, The Town, and his role as Hawkeye in the Avengers series.  Although he’s not far off from his 50’s, Renner stays active and creative; and we have the feeling his celebrity eyes will continue to marvel fans for many years to come.  Some of his photos reveal a bit of under eye puffiness, however.

If he ended up getting lower eyelid surgery, Blepharoplasty or Canthoplasty sometime in the next four years, it wouldn’t necessarily surprise us.

Jamie Foxx’s Celebrity Eyes (http://pin.it/3ANo0sy).

Foxx was born Eric Morlon Bishop, in December of 1967.  This highly sought-after actor and talented singer has mesmerising chocolate-brown eyes. His eyes beautifully complement his gorgeous skin, which we suspect he keeps extremely well-hydrated by drinking plenty of water (which is a MUST for good skin).

Even though he is now in his late 40’s, his sultry eyes and smooth skin would never give away his true age.

Our blog team could stare into his eyes forever.  Our eyelid experts suggest that he might eventually find his upper lids sagging (especially on his right side) and may eventually need a surgical procedure to improve vision by reducing eyelid sagging over the iris. But he’s still a few years away from needing a Blepharoplasty, as far as we can tell.

It’s not unusual for one side of the face (or one eyelid or brow) to droop first, or more than the other side – as no two sides of the face are symmetrical.  But when the time comes that your iris’s are being obscured by heavy, sagging eyelids – it’s often a Blepharoplasty or eyelid lift that will get you the results you’re wanting.  But even laser treatments, dermal filler or anti-wrinkle injections treatments and at-home skincare regimes using Medik8, Obagi, PCA Renewal or our other cosmeceutical lines can help you keep your eyelid area less prone to wrinkles and the signs of ageing.

Naomi Watts’ Celebrity Eyes (http://pin.it/1w_ua4A)

This British actress got her early start in Australia. Naomi Watts was born in September of 1968, leaving her in her mid-to-late 40s. She is known for a number of diverse roles and has quite memorable eyes and lovely eyebrows.  In terms of acting, she has been widely acclaimed for her acting in Mulholland Drive.  But she’s perhaps most widely known for her roles in The Ring and Children of The Corn IV: The Gathering.

Naomi Watts has been known to apply blush under her eyes for an even more youthful appearance.

Her eyes still look amazing in her 40s, and her eyebrows are also face-flattering.

What makes Naomi Watts’ eyebrows so great? They have a shape and colour that don’t detract from her beautiful crystalline-like blue eyes.

Josh Duhamel’s Celebrity Eyes (http://pin.it/8Hlz21M).

Josh Duhamel is a former model turned actor. He was born in the USA in beautiful North Dakota in November 1972.

This 44-year-old actor is perhaps best known for his role in The Transformers series of movies and several others and has graced the big screen with his dreamy light brown eyes for many years. Josh Duhamel is married to Stacy Ann Ferguson, better known by her stage name Fergie.

Melbourne’s top group of Expert Plastic Surgeons note that he is starting to show some signs of eyelid ptosis (eyelid drooping) on the right side of his face, above his right eye (the left side of the photograph above).

Josh’s slight under-eye puffiness is also likely a natural result of passing years or potentially genetics.  When it comes time for him to surgically rejuvenate his looks, he might consider an upper blepharoplasty or a Canthoplasty (lower eyelid surgery) or injectables treatments to restore lost facial volume. There are a few procedures that might help open his eyes a bit more to give him an even more refreshed and rejuvenated look. But the fact is, he already looks amazingly young for his age and he’s got swimmingly beautiful eyes.

Jennifer Lopez’s Celebrity Eyes (http://pin.it/C6fd3k7)

Jennifer Lopez is a household name and one of the reasons the shapely buttocks trend has increased the number of people wanting buttocks augmentation plastic surgery – sometimes known as the Brazilian Butt Lift.

This 47-year-old New York Bronx-born entertainer is widely known for her acting career as well as being a lead singer and musician.  Lopez has often said that the key to her youthful appearance is a very mild cleanser that she gets from her dermatologist, along with lots of sleep, plenty of exercise and quality sunscreen.

Her eyes look almost exactly like they do in her early 20’s.

Will Smith’s Celebrity Eyes

Will Smith is another household name, bringing a smile to most of our faces when we think of his amazing acting talents and his on-screen and off-screen charm.

This 48-year-old American actor, producer, rapper and songwriter has always had looks that seemed to defy the hands of time. One of his best films is 7 Pounds, released in early 2009. He’s also highly regarded for his 2006 film, based on a true story, The Pursuit of Happyness. Will has a seemingly ageless appearance. He has surely been blessed with fantastic genes, including superbly-smooth skin AND a great skincare routine that renders him with few – if any – facial lines and hardly any wrinkles even in his late 40s.

Reese Witherspoon’s Celebrity Eyes

This versatile, fun actress – who was featured in a fabulous photo shoot in Harper’s Bazaar in early 2016 – just joined the 40’s age group club. Reese looks as fantastic as she ever has. Her eyes are also likely to look amazing for many years to come.  It’s partially related to her genetics, but Reese has also been known to credit her ever-youthful appearance to great sun protection and fantastic skincare.

Protecting her skin from the damaging effects of the sun’s rays has certainly protected her great skin from premature ageing.

How to protect your eyes from premature ageing and improve your eyelids

We know how damaging the sun’s rays are (and you can tell what it’s done to YOUR skin by asking for a Coco Ruby Dermal Clinician consultation with Canfield REVEAL technology).  So we recommend the same for all of our Coco Ruby Skin & Anti-Ageing clients.  Search our blog for other articles about cosmeceutical grade sun protection and why it’s so important – and ask about our sun protection ranges that have physical blocks rather than chemical sunscreen ingredients.  We carry DNA Renewal, Medik8, DNA Renewal, PCA Skin and Cosmedix products. One of the DNA sun-protecting products even won a significant award for being effective not only for sun protection but for its rejuvenating properties – now that’s a 2 in 1!

Their healthy celeb lifestyle habits and their top-notch skin care regimes – especially their reliance on sun screen to protect their skin from the damaging rays of the sun – surely play a role in their ongoing maintenance of a great appearance. Genetics is also apt to play a significant part. But often it’s the combination of genetics, skin care regimes, sun protection and common sense that keep us looking our best well into our 40s, 50s, 60s and beyond.

Best Eyes of Celebrities Over 50

Think about the widely known stars or TV personalities of Australia’s best channels, including presenters Lisa Wilkinson and Karl Stefanovic.  For celebrities from Hollywood to the Red Stitch Theatre and NIDA, there is one significant downside to having large-screen or even cinema-size screen fame.  As Mel Gibson, Hugh Jackman, Susan Sarandon, and Meryl Streep are all well aware, our celebrity favourites age in front of the ever-scrutinous eyes of the media. Celebrity eyes are constantly being captured for digital eternity by the flashing cameras of the paparazzi.  Whether under the temporary effects of medication, celebratory alcohol or sleep deprivation from gruelling film schedules – or whether revealing sagging eyelids and under-eye bags, or the asymmetrically drooping eyebrows that seem to come with age, there’s just no hiding of the eyes of a celebrity over 50.

The public’s perception of famous celebrities needing to maintain perfection (rather than simply striving for an optional best look) doesn’t seem to help. There are pressures and standards that stars of the cinematic screen feel compelled to abide by – and as many will attest, can make or break your acting career.

Best Celebrity Eyes – over 50!

We’ve come up with a shortlist of the 5 mature leading ladies of Hollywood that still have that same sexy, fresh sparkle in their eye even though they’ve reached the half-century mark.  (Next blog we will cover our top 5 celebrity males with the best eyes).

Sandra Bullock

Since she wowed us back in the 1990s in Speed, Sandra Bullock has solidified herself as an award-winning actress with looks to make men love her and women across the world wish they could be her. No frills and fancy-free, Sandra embodies the girl next door that seems to age slower than almost any starlet in Hollywood. Miss Congeniality herself swears by her “8-minute beauty regimen” which includes everything from start to finish to get her out the door.

“I use a facecloth and Artistry cream,” Bullock said. “I put mascara on today because I wanted to make a bit of an effort.” She may be one of the lucky ones who doesn’t need the help of fillers or injectable treatments… or at least not yet.

Vanessa Williams

This former beauty queen and head-spinning athlete has never gone a day without being a stunning head-turner.

With sparkling baby blues and a milk-chocolate, fine-pored complexion, Vanessa has been an object of the public’s admiration for over a decade time frame.

So what’s Vanessa Williams’ secret to ageing gracefully under the spotlight?

Williams herself admitted in an interview back in 2004 that that youthful glow she sports is no miracle, it’s thanks to injectable fillers. “I love it,” she confessed. “But I also want to act, so I don’t do it to freeze my face.” Even natural beauty needs a pick me up sometimes!

Julianne Moore

This natural redhead hasn’t seemed to age a day since becoming a household name in Hollywood.  Sometimes red heads DO seem to hold their youth longer than the rest of us.  Naturally fair and perfectly freckled, Julianne accredits her fresh-faced looks to protecting her skin from the sun’s harmful rays. “I say this to every young person I know: Stay out of the sun! I have very fair skin and it would have been super-damaged. I always wear sunscreen and I walk on the shady side of the street.” It appears that those preventative measures have paid off because Julianne looks far younger than her years. Seriously, does she even have a single wrinkle?

Demi Moore

Demi Moore came to fame in the infamous 1980’s Brat Pack era. But from the looks of it, she hasn’t aged much since then. Because she IS in the spotlight, her youthful face has been the subject of media speculation for some time.  Demi’s striking looks and amazingly fit body have scored her many high-profile romances and countless magazine covers, not to mention becoming the first actress to earn a cool $12.5 million for a major motion picture—back in a time when that salaries for female actors were – sadly – simply unheard of.

An advocate of the raw diet, Demi blends in with her 3 daughters (father Bruce Willis) looking just as if she’s a slightly older sister in the group. Don’t believe us? Just check out this twinning Instagram post her daughter shared.

We’ve watched Demi transform herself onscreen as well as in real life, a sort of Madonna version of an actress always changing and leaving people to guess her next move. Whether she’s dressed up or dressed down, Demi’s killer looks haven’t changed one bit. In fact, her little to no makeup face is a true testament of her high cheekbones and bright heterochromia eyes. Although she will never outright admit to plastic surgery, there’s got to be a little something extra that gives Demi an edge on the competition.

Christie Brinkley

Brinkley is now in her early 60s, approximately aged 62. Let that sink in for a minute. Whatever the fountain of youth is, Christie seems to have it at her fingertips or in her cabinet jars – or at her Dermal Clinician’s office. Joking aside, this is a woman that defies ageing. California girl, through and through, Christie looks nearly as good now as she did gracing the covers of Sports Illustrated in the 1980s.

The public has adored Christie for decades, but it’s easy to see why. Bouncy blonde hair and a beautiful, open smile that can light up a room, Christie commands the camera’s focus. She’s still considered as hot as ever even though she’s approaching her golden years.

Genetics are likely the leading factor to her fresh-faced success, but Christie also credits her beauty to skipping on the face powder, eating an apple a day, and exfoliating her skin every day to keep those pores nice and fresh. If you didn’t just run out to buy a bag of apples and exfoliator, you should. I mean, just look at her.

Honourable Mentions in Best Celebrity Eyes (as they entered their 50s): Courtney Cox, Kathy Ireland, Elle McPherson, Michelle Pfieffer, and Heather Locklear.

Whether we like it or not, we’re a youth-obsessed culture. These celebrities still know just how to turn heads. Our next blog will feature the male actors who do the same.

Looking Younger with an Eyelid Lift

For the average person, ageing is a natural process that happens over time. Most will attest that ageing suddenly seems to accelerate as we get older, happening at a seemingly faster rate in our 50s and 60s than ever before.   There is some science behind this apparent increase in ageing; collagen loss, facial volume loss and even skeletal bone atrophy – can leave your facial, body and eyelid skin looking saggy.  As everything moves a bit south, even our smiles can start to look perennially downturned and the skin between our eyebrows reach their ‘infamous 11’s’ look (worry lines or frown lines on the forehead, which are treated with anti-wrinkle injectables).

Fortunately, the surgery most sought after to reduce the ageing appearance of the eyelids is an Upper Blepharoplasty, often complemented with sequential skin rejuvenation treatments along with collagen-stimulating ingredients in your eyelid area serums. We’ll discuss this a bit more later in this blog, but before you decide on a rejuvenating surgery or eyelid serum, learn why the eyelid area is so vulnerable to ageing quickly.

The Youthful Eye: How it Varies from an Ageing Eye

Eye Anatomy and Eyelid Surgery (Blepharoplasty)

If you look at the anatomy of a younger eye, the upper eyelid sits generally resting around the top area of the iris.

The lower lid and lashes also sit comfortably around the lower part of the iris, typically with no white showing above or below the iris.

The inner edges of the eyelids may be slightly visible but they rest against the eye, and the eye stays well-lubricated through natural blinking and fully functional tear duct glands.

Human eye anatomy illustration.

What is eyelid ptosis?

In the aged eye, the eyelids start to droop, sometimes unevenly. Drooping or sagging skin is called ptosis (pronounced “toe-seas”). Eyelid drooping often occurs more visibly on one side of the face than the other.  Often, it’s the right eyelid (the car window-side of the face) that begins to droop most; but this can vary significantly. If that side of the face is dominant in making facial expressions AND gets more sun exposure, it MAY show ageing more rapidly than the other side of the face.  Eyelid ptosis can often be remedied with an Upper Blepharoplasty Surgery or Canthoplasty. Sometimes an alternative injectables treatment can also remedy the problem of eyelid ptosis.

Example of Eyelid Ptosis

eyelid-ptosis photograph image example of eyelid ptosis condition

Your entire body and face are asymmetrical – even if you have a well-shaped nose – it’s not the same from left to right.

With eyelid asymmetry, asymmetrical ptosis is often not overly noticeable unless you actively search for it (we can see you heading for your mirror now).

Sometimes you won’t even notice it in the mirror but it looks highly evident in photographs.

Eventually, however, eyelid ptosis can be more extreme and impede one’s vision.
